Enroll. Train. Teach.

Getting your teaching certification is a simple, straightforward process. Listed below is a breakdown of the steps required to complete your journey of becoming a professional educator in the state of Texas:

STEP 1 – APPLY

It is easy and free to apply!

STEP 2 – ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• 2.5 GPA minimum

STEP 3 – ENROLL

Once accepted, you must officially enroll in the program.

The monthly payment option requires a $99 enrollment fee and a commitment to $99 monthly payment. Once the field experience begins, the payments will increase, and your balance will be divided out over the course of your two semester field experience. All fees must be paid in full by the end of your field experience.

STEP 4 – TRAINING

Once enrolled in the program, you will have access to your instructional coursework, 5000.02 – 5600. Your coursework will be accessed through Canvas. Your coursework is self-paced until you begin your field experience. In order to be eligible for hire 5000.02, 5100, 5200, and 5300 must be completed.

STEP 5 – TESTING

You will need to pass a content test prior to being eligible for hire. We will help identify this area based on college coursework. With our monthly payment plan, you have access to test prep for free!

Once a content test is passed and all instructional coursework (5000 – 5600) is complete, you can request approval for the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) exam. 

STEP 6 – GET HIRED

Once your content test(s) are passed, 4 Pre-Hire courses are completed and your 30 hours of Classroom Observation Hours logged, you are eligible to be hired.

When Can I Get Hired?

You can be eligible for hire within 8-10 weeks from enrollment. You just need to complete the following items:

1. 30 Hours of Observation Logged
2. First 4 Courses Completed (5000.02-5300)
3. Content Test Passed (including all supplemental tests)

You will be provided a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) for hire.

STEP 7 – FIELD EXPERIENCE

After we receive your Statement of Eligibility for hire, you will be assigned an iteach Texas supervisor who will observe you during your two semester Field Experience.

STEP 8 – FEES PAID AND COMPLETE COURSEWORK

Once you are hired, all instructional coursework through 5600 must be complete within four months of your start date. By the end of your two semester field experience, all tests must be passed including your PPR, successful field experience, and your balance paid in full. 

STEP 9 – COMPLETION

Congratulations! At this point, you will have successfully completed your first year as a professional educator, received your Standard Certificate, and will be on your way to an impactful career as a teacher.
