Application

The first step is to complete the on application and submit the application documents to the iteach Hawaii office.

Enrollment

Once you have applied and submitted the required admission documents, you may enroll in the program. You are immediately provided access to your first online course.

iteach Hawaii offers seven online instructional courses that are designed to prepare you to be an excellent classroom teacher. The courses are self-paced; you can login to complete them at any time, from anywhere.

The courses are written by experienced education experts and are designed to be teacher-friendly and practical. Each course is taken in sequence; you cannot begin your next course until your current one is complete.

Through iteach Hawaii, you can earn a Provisional Teaching License in the following areas. You must pass a content test (Praxis II) in at least one of the following areas prior to applying to the iteach Hawaii program.

Upon enrollment into the program and completion of TCHI 5000 and TCHI 5100, you are eligible to apply, interview and be hired!

Once hired, you will complete a one-year (two semester) paid residency during which time you are employed full time as a teacher in your content field (the area in which you passed Praxis). In this position, you receive the salary and benefits of a first-year teacher

HOW TO PREPARE FOR FIELD EXPERIENCE

You must secure your own internship position through the district application/interview process. Prior to interviewing, you are required to complete 80 hours of instruction (TCHI 5000 and TCHI 5100).

You may obtain a job placement in any school district or Hawaii Department of Education recognized private school

SUPERVISION DURING FIELD EXPERIENCE

During the field experience placement you will be assigned an iteach Hawaii field supervisor who will make periodic classroom visits and work closely with the campus administration to ensure a successful teaching experience for you.

Application Process

WHEN CAN I APPLY?

You may apply at any time; iteach Hawaii does not have any application deadlines.

DO I HAVE TO REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS OR DOES ITEACH HAWAII REQUEST THEM FOR ME?

It is your responsibility to request that your transcripts be sent to iteach Hawaii; iteach Hawaii does not request transcripts on your behalf. If you already have official transcripts, you may mail them directly to iteach Hawaii. Send transcripts to:

You may also upload a secure official electronic version of your transcripts, if the transcripts have been verified through a service such eScrip- Safe, Parchment Exchange, Credential Solutions and/or National Student Clearinghouse. iteach will not accept unofficial transcripts, which includes a scan or a photocopy of a transcript.

WHAT IF MY GRADUATING GPA IS LESS THAN 2.5?

To enroll in the iteach Hawaii program, you must have a minimum graduating GPA of 2.5 or a GPA of 2.5 in your last 60 hours of college coursework. If you are unsure whether you meet this requirement, you can evaluate your GPA using our GPA calculator tool.

Graduate courses taken at an accredited college or university may be included in your calculation for your GPA in your last 60 hours of coursework.

If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirement, you will need to take additional undergraduate or graduate coursework in order to improve your GPA in your last 60 hours of coursework.

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

The total program cost is $4399.

HOW MUCH DO I PAY TO GET STARTED?

You can begin the iteach Hawaii program with $0 to apply and a $99 enrollment fee after accepted. All other fees are deferred, interest-free, until you begin a full-time job as a teacher of record.

After enrollment, you pay $99 a month while you are taking your coursework. Once you begin your two-semester field experience your payments will increase. We take the balance of your account and divide it into 8-10 equal interest-free monthly payments during your field experience.

CAN I USE FINANCIAL AID?

No, iteach Hawaii is not an institution of higher education. Therefore, the program does not qualify for financial aid.

Field Experience

DOES ITEACH HAWAII PLACE ME IN A TEACHING JOB?

No. Teacher hiring decisions are made by school principals and district administrators. Therefore, no teacher certification program, including iteach Hawaii, can guarantee you a teaching position.

iteach Hawaii does provide you with an Intent to Hire document to prospective employers that you are eligible for an Emergency Hire Permit; this is an essential part of the application process for unlicensed teachers. In addition, we provide information about the school hiring process and notify candidates about teacher openings to give you the best chance of finding a teaching job.

Timeline

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE?

You must complete your instructional coursework by the end of your field experience. The whole iteach Hawaii program is designed to be completed within one school year, but you have two full school years to find a teaching position while enrolled in iteach Hawaii.
