We are actively adding district MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) to help more candidates interested in teaching – please contact us to have your district added.

Which certification area is needed for my teaching subject?

Please refer to the ETS Praxis test overview for Tennessee at

https://www.ets.org/praxis/tn

to identify the Praxis II, content test, that you will be required to take and pass for state licensure.

Training with iteach Tennessee begins immediately when submitting an application and starting the overview course, TCTN 5000.

TCTN 5300 – Planning Instruction and Assessments
TCTN 5400 – Literacy and 21st Century Instruction

TCTN 5600 – Diverse Populations, English Language Learners and Bilingual

Within the iteach Tennessee course curriculum, educators will demonstrate the ability to integrate technology effectively into curricula and instruction (TCTN 5300 – Planning for Instruction and Assessment, TCTN 5400 – Literacy, 21st Century Instruction, and Pedagogical Content Knowledge).

Get hired!

You will complete a one-year (two semester) paid residency during which time you are employed full time as a teacher in your content field. In this position, you receive the salary and benefits of a first-year teacher.

How to prepare for residency

You must secure your own internship position through the district application/interview process.

Once hired the Intent to Hire form is submitted to the iteach Tennessee office. It is at that time that your Personal Payment Plan will begin.

Additionally, your district will begin the induction/mentoring process with an identified district mentor.

What certification areas does iteach Tennessee offer?

iteach Tennessee has the ability to certify in many areas for your initial certification. A subset is listed below – contact us about your area of interest and location as each district MOU has different hiring practices.

Note: Many, but not all, districts manage candidate observation – a $3,050 total price. Some districts have iteach manage this aspect, which raises the price to $4,250. The most you will pay is $4,250 and we have payment plans to help you.
